Dayton Ballet II Auditions

Dayton Ballet II, Dayton Ballet’s pre-professional training company, will hold open auditions on Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Dayton Ballet School Downtown, located on the 4th floor of the Victoria Theatre, 140 N. Main St., Dayton, Ohio 45402.

Dayton Ballet II

DBII consists of a Junior Company (ages 10-14) and a Senior Company (ages 14 and older).  DBII Junior students are expected to take three ballet classes each week as well as a once-a-week scholarship conditioning/fitness class.  

DBII Senior students take three ballet classes and two pointe classes per week as well as scholarship classes which include but are not limited to two ballet classes with the professional company per week and two conditioning/fitness classes per week.  Many of our DBII Senior members have been fortunate enough to be accepted into summer programs at the Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and Virginia School of the Arts. DB II alumni have been accepted into prestigious ballet companies such as San Francisco Ballet, Washington Ballet, BalletMet and Montgomery Ballet.

Members of DBII receive opportunities for performances throughout the school year.  Performances have included the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra Program; the annual Wright State University Dance Concert series; lecture demonstrations for the Dayton Foundation; and Dayton Ballet School’s annual workshop. Additionally, DBII company members may have the chance to participate in Dayton Ballet’s professional productions of The Nutcracker at the Benjamin and Marian Performing Arts Center, as well as other Dayton Ballet productions throughout the season.

Audition Requirements

Boys and girls, 10 to 14 years of age, audition for DBII Junior at 4:30 p.m.  Young men and women, age 14 through college, audition for DBII Senior at 6:00 p.m.  Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the audition time.  Young women auditioning for DBII Senior should bring pointe shoes.  There is no fee to audition or to participate.  If selected, the only cost involved will be the cost of classes.

Nutcracker Auditions
September 24, 2011                                             

     


Dayton Ballet will hold open auditions for children’s roles in the classic, holiday production, THE NUTCRACKER, on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Dayton Ballet studios. This open casting call is for children ages 5-12. Those chosen will perform with Dayton Ballet professional dancers, Dec. 10-19, 2010 on the Schuster Center stage. Auditions will be held at Dayton Ballet studios (4th Floor) located in the Victoria Theatre, 140 North Main Street, Dayton, OH 45402.

Available children’s roles include party-goers, mice, lambs and angels.  Auditions are arranged, according to age group:

•    Ages 11-12 at 2:00 p.m.

•    Ages 8-10 at 3:00 p.m.

•    Ages 5-7 at 4:00 p.m.

Parents should to register their child 30 minutes before the audition time. The dress code for girls is a solid color leotard, pink tights and pink ballet slippers; and, for boys, dress is black tights, white t-shirts and black or white ballet slippers. Ballet dance experience is recommended, but not required. PLEASE NOTE: No resumes are needed and casting is at the discretion of the choreographer.
